Back with another rotary project is Axel Hildebrand, and this time its a Volvo 740. Powered by the same PPRE triple rotor engine as used in the Corvette and featuring a Garrett G45-1500 turbo charger. We were once again tasked with building a manifold to suitably mount the very large turbo to the Mazda engine.
For this build the decision was made to go down the route of the Turbosmart Straightgate 76, the best flowing wastegate on the planet, which is a change from the corvettes manifolds setup that utilised a pair of Turbosmart Progate 50s.
The main reason for the change is because unlike the Corvette, the Volvo is going to be Axels competition car and to satisfy noise regulations, Axel has decided to have the option to run a bonnet exit screamer pipe and be able to swop to a plumbed back option when he is asked "to keep it down a little"
